01 OCTOBER 2011 - Blue Card becomes a new form of evidence of competency for certain Load Shifting Plant in NSW

Changes to High Risk Work Licensing in ACT and NSW

As from 01 July 2011, WorkSafe ACT will no longer be issuing Certificates of Competency as a result of the transition to the new National Licence to Perform High Risk Work.  It is important to note that Load Shifting Classes under the old certification system are no longer recognised as High Risk Work, with the exception of Class LF Forklift Truck Operation and Class LO Order Picking Forklift Truck Operation.

This means that operators of Load Shifting plant in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) will no longer be required to hold a certificate of competency for the following classes:

LB Front End Loader Backhoe
LE Excavator
LL Front End Loader
LS Front End Loader Skid-Steer Type
LD Dragline

Operators will still have to provide evidence of training.  Our Blue Card program satisfies this need.  Complimented by a Skills Portfolio, operators now have portable and lasting proof of competency.

These changes will also come into effect in New South Wales on 1 October 2011.

Contact your State Regulatory body for more information regarding the transition to the New National Standard for Persons Performing High Risk Work in your State or Territory.
